(1) Additions to the Graduate Scale are provided for a good Honours

Degree, one year's post-graduate training in teachin,, au for

the Senior Mistress of a Mixed School.

(2) An addition to the non-graduate scale is provided for the Senior

Mistress of a Mixed School.

In consideration of the above statements, may we, therefore, humbly beg that

you will consider the following amendment to the present Salary Scheme in

force in Hong Kong:-

That women Graduate teachers should receive an addition of two

increments to the initial salary.

We would humbly_beg that, when an opportunity occurs in the near

future, one of the Inspectorships of English Schools be open to women Graduates.

We would respectfully draw your attention to the fact that at present

Hong Kong is less enlightened than the home country and the Federated Malay States,

to mention two areas only, in its recognition of the capabilities of omen in this

branch of educational work. In England and Wales there are altogether 81 women

Inspectors, in three grades, namely, 68 Inspectors, 12 Staff Inspectors and 1 Chief

Inspector. The last-mentioned obtains a maximum salary of £1,000 yearly as against

£1,250 for a male Chief Inspector........In the Federated Malay States there are

women Supervisors of Schools.
